One of the most cost effective ways of facebook marketing is retargeting campaigns.

These are campaigns where you target people who have already visited your site and performed an action. Where typically you will aim for a 1:3 ratio on ad spend to revenue with your initial ads, retargeting ads can easily fetch a 1:5 ratio or higher, my best retargeting campaign actually did a 1:15 ratio which is insane!

So, how do you do them?

Well, first you must have your pixel set-up correctly and have already ran ads that produced visitors or buyers.

The you create what are called ‘Custom Audiences’.

You can create custom audiences for any of these types of people just by selecting the actions they have taken…

  • Website visitors

  • ATC’s

  • Buyer’s

  • Order spend

  • Watched video length

  • and so on and so… these are just to name a few of the big ones but there are many more.

Example Campaign

Customer Audience: Website Visitors

In this example we are going to target people who have visited your store but did not ATC or purchase so in the ad creation stage its important you exclude those people.

If someone has clicked your link and visited your store then its safe to say they were interest in you and your ad. But, they didn’t purchase for some reason, maybe your product is too expensive or they don’t like paying shipping so this is where you create your ad copy and in the description offer them a discount code or free shipping option.

"Hey! Thanks for visiting! We miss you so here’s code for 20% off store wide!"

Ads like this convert very well, why? Because you’re targeting warm traffic that are familiar with your brand and the ad is tailored, you’re acknowledging someone has visited your store and addressing that!

Every big player implements strategies like this, if not in the form of a FB ad then by email. I bet you right now you have had an abandoned cart email from a company which is exactly the same thing as targeting people who have ATC but not purchased.

Once you learn how to use custom audiences then building a 6 figure business is very easy.
