Why you should be exercising your brain.

Contrary to popular belief the brain is not a muscle, anatomically its predominantly white and grey matter however the premise ‘use it or lose it’ still applies which is why many people refer to it as a muscle.

There is countless evidence to suggest mental stimulation improves brain function and reduces the risk of cognitive decline and related diseases. Mental stimulation or ‘exercise’ helps the brain grow stronger, faster and better able to cope with the millions of tasks it is given everyday, from memory to problem solving to attention. Not to mention controlling every aspect of the rest of the body!

When it comes to business then it is imperative your brain is in tip-top shape, don’t take it from me though. Here are some of the top business figures today and how much they read:

Warren Buffet, “The more your learn, the more you earn.” Reads 5 or 6 hours per day! Or 500 pages!

Bill Gates, 50 books a year.

Mark Cuban, more than 3 hours per day.

Mark Zuckerburg, 1 book every 2 weeks.

It’s no coincidence then, so what should you be reading? 📚

A study by Huffington post suggests top earners (earnings over $160k per year) favour educational books on self-improvement and success and also biographies on other successful people. Who better to learn from than someone who has already been there and done what you want to do?

If you're not already reading then start, if you struggle to find the time then get audio books and listen while you're commuting. Either way something is better than nothing and over time “the more you learn, the more you will earn.”

Thanks for reading, let me know what books you're reading below.
